It’s basically the Mossberg 715T without a stock and a much shorter barrel. The Mossberg rep in the video says it has a 10″ barrel…the Mossberg official website says the Duck commander version has a 6″ barrel. I’m sure we’ll know for sure which size is correct at the 2014 shot show in January.

I have to say in my opinion the Mossberg 715P looks really cool.

mossberg 715p red dot

Put on a front vertical grip, a red dot and maybe some sort of adjustable stock and this thing will be my new fun gun.
**FYI: you can only legally add a vertical grip and or stock if you fill out ATF form 1 and send them $200, more details at the bottom of this page**

I’m hoping the guys at Mossberg made that factory A2 muzzlebreak easy to take off and easy to put a suppressor on.

They’re starting with three main models from the factory and then you can also get a nice little UTG red dot sight from Mossberg out of the box.

The 715P has a full length rail up top and a full quad rail. They also have some nice fully adjustable sights from the factory.

It looks like the 715P will take the 25 round Mossberg 715T magazines….if you can find them. This is a good thing because the 715T mags are almost impossible to find and the last thing Mossberg needs is another type of mag to make and fall even farther behind.

So yes there will be the Mossberg 715P 25 round magazine and a 10 round magazine.

  • Weight – 3.5 pounds
  • Total Length – 16 Inches

Mossberg 715P Duck Commander Version

Mossberg 715P Pistol - Duck Commander

The Mossberg 715p Duck Commander gun comes dipped with a super cool waterfowl camo pattern from realtree. The Duck Commander logo is engraved on the receiver too. They also throw in an American flag bandanna like Will from Duck Dynasty.

A little info on “pistols” and installing vertical grips and stocks.

If the barrel of a gun is less then 16 inches or the over all length is less then 26 inches then it’s considered a pistol and by law you can’t have a vertical grip or stock on it…unless you give the ATF $200 and fill out a form.

I honestly can’t imagine getting in trouble if you toss on a vertical grip to shoot some cans in your back yard, but it would be against the law…oh, and there is a crazy punishment for this too…how about a nice fine and up to 10 years in jail.

You can read more about this wonderful law here >

ATF has long held that by installing a vertical fore grip on a handgun, the handgun is no longer designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand. Therefore, if individuals install a vertical fore grip on a handgun, they are “making” a firearm requiring registration with ATF’s NFA Branch. Making an unregistered “AOW” is punishable by a fine and 10 years’ imprisonment. Additionally, possession of an unregistered “AOW” is also punishable by fine and 10 years’ imprisonment.

To lawfully add a vertical fore grip to a handgun, a person must make an appropriate application on ATFForm 1, “Application to Make and Register a Firearm.” The applicant must submit the completed form, along with a fingerprint card bearing the applicant’s fingerprints; a photograph; and $200.00.
